Empties #6.2: March 2014

A continuation of my empties post from a little bit ago – check out the first part here. No time for small talk, way too many products to talk about.

Let me know what you think of some of these products in the comments!

L'Oreal Youth Code Serum Review

L’Oreal Youth Code Serum Intense – I use a serum every time before moisturizer. I like the texture of this one – light and quickly absorbs and makes my skin feel comfortable. Didn’t see anymore “youth” while using this but it is a nice supplement to my moisturizer.
Verdict: May repurchase

KMS Hair Stay Hairspray Review

KMS Hair Stay Hairspray – This hairspray is quite extreme – makes my hair crunchy and can make my hair look a bit greasy if I wear it down. It is good for updos that aren’t suppose to move but so are other hairsprays.
Verdict: Will not repurchase

Klorane Dry Shampoo Review

Klorane Dry Shampoo – I love dry shampoos, I was pretty neutral on this one. Clean, fresh scent and didn’t leave too much of a white residue. Didn’t wow me though and I really like the scent of my Batisse one.
Verdict: Will not repurchase

Prada Candy Review

Prada Candy Eau de Parfum – This is one of my favourite fragrances and I have a full size of it. A nice sweet smell (caramel) with a twist of musk. I feel like I never hear people talk about this fragrance but they really should be! Go smell it when you are near a fragrance counter next.
Verdict: Will repurchase

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray Review

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray – This was my go-to styling product in the summer. I apply it to damp hair and then let air dry. It gives your hair that beachy look without making it crunchy or smelling weird (which some beach sprays do for me). Soft, touchable hair with a bit of a wave/texture.
Verdict: Will repurchase

Laura Mercier Perfecting Water Review

Laura Mercier Perfecting Water – Okay, this always seems like an unnecessary step for me – a water that you apply to your skin before moisturizer to help it absorb better. Why not just use a serum before moisturizer? This product does do what it is suppose to but I feel like it’s not worth the extra step.
Verdict: Will not repurchase

Seche Vite Review

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat – My holy grail top coat. Glossy, thick finish that dries within minutes. It does have a couple of drawbacks – polish shrinkage and gets goopy when you’re done a half to two-thirds of the bottle. But I can deal with that because I love that I can do my nails 20 minutes for bed and not wake up with creases in my polish.
Verdict: Will repurchase

Lancome Genefique Review

Lancome Genefique Serum – Very similar in texture to the L’Oreal one, a slight bit richer. My skin feels comfortable once I use this and my moisturizer absorbs very well afterwards. Doesn’t break out my skin and keeps it from looking dry and crusty.
Verdict: Will not repurchase (due to the price)

Tresemme Platinum Strength Review

Tresemme Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment – I did not enjoy this conditioner at all. Way too thin to be called a Treatment and my hair felt like I barely used any conditioner on it even after thickly coating it in this. Plus I’m very upset about the up to 2 years of repair claim – if your hair is less than 24 cm in length, you don’t even have 2 years worth of hair damage to repair. Hair grows on average 1cm/month – don’t make these inaccurate claims. Or at least make a better product that will help repair your hair. Rant done.
Verdict: Will not repurchase

Tresemme Heat Tamer Review

Tresemme Heat Tamer – A Tresemme product that I can stand behind. I use this every single time I blow dry, straighten or curl my hair. Yes, I still have split ends and some damage but I can get away with only getting a hair cut every 6 months or so. This in conjunction with a good conditioner/mask combo will save your hair from splitting and dryness. Smells great too!
Verdict: Will repurchase

Garnier Hold and Flex Review

Garnier Hold and Flex Hairspray – Another staple in my hair routine. Holds my style (especially curl) for the entire day but never leaves my hair feeling or looking crunchy. Smells great and sprays nicely. Definitely helps when it’s humid out as well.
Verdict: Will repurchase

Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner Review

Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner – It is exactly what it sounds like – a conditioner for your body. Apply after washing your body, leave for a minute or two then rinse off. No need for body lotion after your shower and you smell amazingly like roses. It is quite pricey ($32.95) but if you suffer from very dry skin give this product a try. I don’t get dry patches on my arms when I am using this and even a good body lotion can’t get rid of those sometimes. Lasts a really long time if you only use it on problem spots.
Verdict: Will repurchase

Herbal Essences Hydralicious Shampoo Review

Herbal Essences Hydralicious Shampoo – This is easily the least latherable shampoo I have used. It is so thick that I would have to add water to the shampoo before using it on my hair to start the lather then add a bit more water onto my hair once it’s on. I didn’t see or feel any extra hydration when using this. Smells very nice but all Herbal Essences shampoos do and most lather very well compared to this.
Verdict: Will not repurchase
