Favourite Five and a Fail: April 2014

Another month has come and gone. April was a pretty good month – baseball finally started, I got to go to a beauty event (stay tuned for a post next week), visited my parents for Easter and watched a lot of playoff basketball. I’ve also been very busy this month so I needed my beauty routine to be fast and simple. These products helped me get through the month for sure!

MUA Ever After Matte Palette

MUA Ever After Matte Palette – I received this palette from the lovely Beth from Beth Tinkerbell through a Bloggers Snail Mail (look out for a blog post about this next week as well). MUA is not available in Canada so I was very excited to try this. This really has become my go-to palette. Can do very natural looks up to a smokey eye with this as well as fill in my brows. I love using Taffeta all over my lid then using Fade and Chino through the crease to give just a bit of definition. I then use Penny and Truffle along my lash line.

Pur Minerals Pressed Mineral Makeup

Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup – I’ve had this for ages but recently started using it again as I’ve found that my foundation has been breaking apart on my skin throughout the day. This really gives a nice satin finish to my skin and doesn’t dry out my normally dry skin.

Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask

Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask – Between this and my Origins Drink Up mask, my skin hasn’t been dry at all. Instead of using a regular moisturizer at night, I’ll put this on every couple of nights and just let it work it’s magic overnight. Smells great and works wonders.

Out the Door Top Coat

inm Out the Door Top Coat – Seche Vite has always been my favourite top coat but I have heard such great things about Out the Door. I came across it in a random beauty supply store and had to pick it up. It has all the same features as Seche Vite but lacks the smell and the shrinkage. Now I haven’t done any nail art to see about smearing the designs but this is definitely a great top coat!

Erno Laszlo Timeless Skin Serum

Erno Laszlo Timeless Skin Serum – Received this in the Holt Renfrew Spring 2014 Beauty Bag and fell in love immediately. It doesn’t feel like a normal serum but rather has a silicone/velvet like feel on the skin. My skin really hasn’t been dry at all since incorporating this and a few other products into my skincare. Just wish it wasn’t crazy expensive or I’d buy a full-size bottle.

Maybelline The Colossal Volum Express

Fail: Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara – I usually love Maybelline mascaras, they really are the best in the drugstore. I also only use waterproof ones so I can keep my curl all day long. But this one smudged on me a few hours after I applied it. Like c’mon! A waterproof mascara smudging?!?! Fail. I’ll stick to my Rocket and Cat Eyes thank you very much!
