Hello everyone! I’m Jodi and I blog over at Up the Rollercoaster. I’m so excited to be writing this guest post for Kaitlyn all thanks to the Canadian Beauty Bloggers. This month’s theme is “Best of 2014” so I thought I would take the logical step (at least if you could see my makeup stash) and write about my picks for the best lip products of the year! So without further ado…The Best Lippies of the Year!
Best Lip Balm: Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1. I have been obsessed with this lip balm since I got it this summer. I use it nightly before I go to bed and it is just so hydrating. It does sink into your lips quite slowly, which is why I love to use it before bed, but I wake up with such nourished lips that I can’t stop using it. The only downside is that it is a liquid-y balm so it can be tough to get an even application, but other than that? Perfection.
Best Nude: L’Oreal Paris Collection Exclusive in Julianne’s Nude. I raved about this lipstick when it was first released and I am still so in love. When I want something light on my lips, this is what I reach for. Now it definitely wouldn’t be good for all skin tones, but the L’Oreal collection would have something for just about everyone if you wanted to stay within the line.
Best My Lips But Better: Makeup For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in Copper Pink. This was part of the Sephora Birthday gift this year and I am so glad it was! This was my favourite lipstick of the summer and it is the perfect MLBB shade on me.
Best Pink: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipstick in Wine Room. I am more of a red lip girl than a pink lip girl so when I tried to choose beset pink I had a very tough time. But I do truly love Wine Room – perhaps it’s the fact that it’s a darker pink, but this one really works for me! Add in the fact that it’s incredibly inexpensive and that it lasts quite a long time…you’ve got a winner for sure!
Best Red: Sephora Collection Matte Lip Cream in 01. This was my wedding lipstick and I didn’t have to touch it up once. It didn’t exactly stain my lips, but it certainly didn’t budge. It was the perfect matte red – and it didn’t dry out my lips too much! Bonus! It’s this gorgeous bright red that really brightens your face up and I feel like it would suit just about anyone. Yes, I love it.
Best Vampy Lip: Wet n Wild Mega Slicks Balm Stain in Lady and the Vamp. I love a good vampy lip, but for me to really want to wear it, it also needs to be easy to wear. Lady and the Vamp truly delivers in both of those avenues. It can be sheered out to a light wash or piled on so that you really get some purple on your lips and it wears down to a lovely light stain that makes it perfect for a grab and go vampy lip.
I could have gone on forever with this categories, but didn’t want to go all Oscar’s on this post. I was tempted to throw lip glosses in there, but I don’t really wear glosses so I don’t think it’d be an accurate portrayal.
What are your favourite lip products of 2014?
Thanks for having me, Kaitlyn! This really was a blast!
