Boxing Day 2014 Haul

I’m not afraid to admit that I get more excited for Boxing Day than I do for most holidays. Me and my dad head over to the mall at 7am and are usually out of there by 11. He only comes to carry my bags (the cutest thing ever!). Every year I end up finding great deals and try and stock up on basics.

The Basics

Every year I make sure to pick up a new pair of jeans from American Eagle. Their jegging style is my go-to jean because it fits my curves and they come in a short length. The dark wash is the best bet as I can dress it up or down. When finding your size, make sure these are nice and tight as they will stretch out. American Eagle was having 40% off your purchase, so I got mine for $30 (regular $50).

I also pick up new black and white tank tops to replace the tired ones in my closet. Target had 50% off the Mossimo tank tops so I picked up 2 whites and 1 black for $4 each.

Not shown here, for obvious reasons, I also stock up on new underwear. La Senza always has a deal going on and this year it was 8 pairs for $30. Each pair usually retails for $7.95 so it’s a great deal! There was absolutely no line in the store this year. I’m so used to standing in a line of 30 women patiently waiting. Bonus!

The Oh So Not Basics

Okay so the basics are taken care of in terms of fashion. I then start searching for trendy pieces or nice additions to my wardrobe at heavily discounted prices.

The Bay is always a must for me on Boxing Day. They typically have 40% off the lowest ticketed price! This year I picked up the very sexy caged bootie by Material Girl for $23 (regular $79). So excited to wear these out one night very soon! A more practical but still glam pair of shoes I found are the metallic sneakers by Expression for $18 (regular $49). Can’t wait to wear these while in the lab during the spring and summer or while running errands.

I also found two clothing pieces that I love at The Bay. I spotted the two-toned sweater by Style & Co. while roaming the aisles – the top is a burgundy colour with a subtle leopard print and the bottom is a heathered gray. So comfy and great for casual dressing and a steal at $14 (regular $54). Finally, I found this great loose blazer/cardigan by Vero Moda for $12 (regular $39.99) which will be great for conferences or dressing up jeans and a t-shirt.

Last year I scored big time at The Gap – $5.50 pants say what?!? The extra 50% off sale is an amazing deal! But this year all I could find was a camo sweatshirt for $11 (regular $44.95). My every day uniform is either J Crew Pixi Pants and a chambray shirt or jeans and a cute sweatshirt so this will be a great addition into the rotation.

My last stop of my shopping adventure was Suzy Shier. Now I typically don’t shop here, especially on Boxing Day because they don’t have their change rooms open. For some reason though, I got pulled in. The reason was a pair of amazing sequin pants! Everything was 50% and I picked them up for $15. Thankfully no two pieces are cut the exact same at Suzy Shier (you get what you pay for, right?) so I picked up the largest cut Medium to make sure they would fit. I need to get my mom to narrow the leg opening and hem them so its a bit more of a tailored fit. Also, not pictured, I found a really cute oversized beige clutch that has INSPIRE embossed in the material for $11 (regular $22).

I also picked up a bunch of non-fashion items – sheet set for $12, towels for $3 each, new calendars, and a whole bunch of DVDs. But those aren’t as fun to blog about. I did get a few of the Boxing Day deals from Sephora but will blog about those at a later date once I play with them.

What kind of deals do you find on Boxing Day? Or do you just avoid the situation entirely?

til next time…
