Mani Monday: Golden Globes Inspired

Fashion Inspired Nail Art

Last weekend Award Season began with the Golden Globes which is easily the most fun of the award shows. Last year I drew inspiration from Angelina Jolie’s Oscar gown and wanted to continue this inspired by theme for Mani Monday.

There were a ton of great dresses that I could create a nail art design for but when I saw what Lupita Nyong’o was wearing I knew that this would be my source of inspiration. She wore a stunning and very springy gown by Giambattista Valli that reminds me of cascading lilacs.

I am absolutely in love with this nail art design! It may actually be my most favourite design to date.

It was relatively easy to create but did take some time as I used so many different polishes.

I started with a white base (Sinful Colors Snow Me White) then started with a dotting tool and the lightest two colours (OPI My Very First Knockwurst and Julep Florence) at the tips of my nails to begin creating columns of ombréd dots. Next I moved up the nail a bit with Revlon Charming then Avon Luxe Lavendar for the lightest purple shades. Zoya Odette served as the medium purple shade which I also used a bit of near the base of my nails to lighten up the dark portion. The two dark shades I finished the look with were very close in colour but the NYC one has a slight shimmer (Revlon Bold Sangria and NYC Chinatown). I made sure to randomly place different colours along the columns to make it a bit imperfect.

I love how this captured the essence of the gorgeous gown Lupita wore to the Golden Globes. I can’t wait to see what other gowns walk down the red carpet this season and draw inspiration from them!

Let me know what you think about this nail design in the comments!

til next time…
