I have a confession. I’ve been hoarding my Optimum Points for years, like since they started the program. I always said I would keep them just in case there was a day when I couldn’t afford food. Well I’m pretty sure I would never get to that point so I reasoned with myself and said I would take advantage of the next Spend Your Points event.
This past weekend Shoppers was having a Beauty Spend Your Points Event. Spend 40000 points and get $90 off or spend 80000 points and get $200 off. I obviously chose the second option! I am so happy with my haul from this and I picked out $202 worth of product and had to just pay the taxes – totalling $28.77.
I knew that I wanted to pick out some Chanel products as this is my most favourite cosmetics line. I didn’t pick out any nail polishes as I will be heading to New Orleans soon and I always pick one up when I travel. First, I knew I wanted to pick up the Le Blanc de Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base. I saw Jaclyn Hill speak about this and it is absolutely stunning! A white liquid base/primer that gives a gorgeous, but subtle, glow to the skin. I also wanted to pick up a couple lipsticks as I don’t own any – one in a neutral shade and one more bold colour. I decided on the Rouge Coco Shine in Intime which is a gorgeous nude pink with a hint of mauve in it (aka my favourite type of pink lip colour) and the Rouge Allure in Élégante which is a stunning deep plum colour. I am so happy with my Chanel picks!
Next I knew that I wanted to pick up some things that weren’t Chanel, just for a little diversity. I’ve always wanted to try the Benefit Fake Up concealer but never wanted to dish out the $30 for it. It is super creamy and leaves my undereyes looking dewy (so much better than dry and cakey).
Moving onto drugstore priced products, you can see my obsession with purple lipsticks is real with the choice of the Maybelline lipstick in Mauve It Up. This is a definitely a more sheer plum/mauve shade that will be great for every day wear. Also from Maybelline I picked up another Big Eyes waterproof mascara as it is one of my favourites.
Continuing with drugstore priced products, I chose the very affordable Essence Metal Glam eyeshadow in Frosted Apple. I own another one of these and I love using it to add some shimmer to a makeup look. This shade will be great to incorporate into looks that I create using the Jaclyn Hill palette from Morphe. From L’Oreal, I spotted a new display of tiny nail polishes with different finishes like Spiked and Granite. The Latex finish polish in Mademoiselle Grey enticed me as I’ve been wanting a grey polish for a very long time. Lastly, I dug through the drawers under the displays for the L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray. I’ve heard such great things about it and just had to give it a go.
Well I hope you’ve enjoyed my basically free haul! Start saving up your points for the next Spend Your Points event – they really are a fantastic deal!
