A little while ago, I attended a YSL Master Class at Sephora with my friend Liz (go check out her blog/YouTube channel – Stay Gorgeous) which was conveniently timed around the release of the new Volupté Tint-in-Oil lip product. So obviously, being the enablers we are, both Liz and I picked up one of the 8 shades.
I opted for the bright pink #5 (Cherry My Cherie) as I still wanted a product that you could see on my lips.
The YSL Volupté Tint-in-Oil retails for $35 CDN and is a deep conditioning lip oil with a tint. When applied, the luxurious oils (apricot kernel, coriander fruit, jojoba seed and possiflora edulis seed) coat the lips and leave a glossy finish without being slick or greasy. The tint that is suspended in the oils, slowly develops after application and you can make it bolder with additional coats of the product. The glossy finish slowly fades as the oils absorb into your lips/wear off but the tint does remain for a couple hours afterwards.
The applicator of this product is the cutest thing ever – a pair of lips! The concave side is for full-on application of the product while the other side only minimally applies the product so it is great for touch ups. The concave side really hugs the shape of the lips and maximizes application. You don’t need to get more product with this applicator – it applies the perfect amount with one swipe!
I absolutely love the way this product feels on my lips. The tint is a perfect bright pink that adds a dose of colour to an otherwise minimal makeup look. The scent is amazing (it’s the apricot that is added to all/most YSL products). I did find that some of the tint accumulates into the lines of my lips but it’s very minimal (you can see it in my lip swatch).
Overall, I am very impressed by this innovative product. It has definitely become a go-to for those days that I’m wearing very little makeup but still want something on my lips. I’m so curious to swatch the other shades and may pick up one that is more subtle.
Have you tried the YSL Volupté Tint-in-Oil yet? Do you think you’ll splurge on it?
til next time…
