Luxe Box: Spring 2015 Edition*

Luxe Box Spring 2015 Box Review

Spring has arrived! Well…..kind of. It’s certainly not feeling like spring outside but the beauty world is getting ready for the warmer weather and sunny days. Luxe Box’s Spring box recently arrived on my doorstep and it’s full of a great variety of products.

Luxe Box Spring 2015 Box Review

Loose Button Duo Ended Foundation Brush – This brush features a flat foundation brush and a sponge applicator. I have received Loose Button products before and really enjoyed them however this one left me a bit disappointed. The sponge applicator had a very strong chemical smell once I removed it from it’s plastic bag and that side of the brush actually fell off after bringing it home for the Easter long weekend. The flat foundation brush worked really well though (better than other flat foundation brushes I’ve tried) and didn’t leave any brush marks.

Eyeko Brow Gel – This tinted brow gel promises to hold brows in place without flaking while also adding a touch of colour to your brows. I swear by my Anastasia Clear Brow Gel but am always willing to try out new brow products. I do really enjoy the small brush of the Eyeko Brow Gel. The tint of the gel is a medium toned brown but make sure you wipe off a lot of the product before applying to your brows. I find that there is way too much product on the brush and then my brows stick together because of it. It definitely doesn’t flake and my brows do stay in place. This would be a great product for anyone with dark blonde to very dark brown brows.

Klorane Dry Shampoo – This dry shampoo features oat milk which helps moisturize and protect the hair. This is not a clear dry shampoo so don’t go too crazy or you will definitely have a white cast. The dry shampoo has a fresh scent that isn’t too overpowering. It definitely helps absorb oil and extend the life of your hair. I don’t like that it’s not clear because my red hair definitely shows the white cast when I use it. If you have blond hair this will work really well for you!

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting Liquid – This is a chemical exfoliant that features 2% BHA (salicylic acid). It helps shrink enlarged pores, smooths wrinkles and remove dead skin cells. Use this on skin after cleansing and toning and don’t rinse after applying – it’s a leave on treatment! I have yet to use this but am very excited to try it. My skin responds well to salicylic acid so I’m hoping this won’t aggravate my skin.

Crabtree and Evelyn Nail Polish in Petal Pink – Who knew that Crabtree and Evelyn has nail polishes? I sure didn’t. Now while this colour is a quintessential springtime shade, I don’t wear colours like this. I’m not a fan of sheer polishes so I will definitely be gifting this to someone. Looking at C&E’s site, there are some stunning shades that are more “me” that I would be willing to test drive.

Buxom Show Some Skin Foundation Samples – Foundations are always tricky products for beauty subscriptions but this Buxom sampler pack is a decent solution for that. It features 4 shades of its’ weightless foundation (Tickle the Ivory, Fair Game, Dim the Light, and Silky Negli-Beige) so that us fair skinned ladies can find our perfect shade. Even though I know I’m one of the lighter 2 shades, I can definitely use the darker shades for subtle contouring. The foundation is light to medium coverage and features vitamin C, tamarind seed, and marine algae to help hydrate, brighten and smooth the skin and its’ appearance.

MISSHA Geum Sul 24K Gold Collagen Caviar Cotton Sheet Mask – I haven’t dabbled in Korean beauty products and can’t wait to start with this sheet mask! The 24 gold (how fancy!) helps purify the skin and with blood circulation, the collagen helps with moisture and replenishing the skin, and the caviar is packed with omega-3s to nourish and moisturize skin. This will be a great treat in the coming weeks when I need a bit of a break from all my schoolwork.

Overall, I’m pretty neutral on the Spring Box from Luxe Box. Nothing wowed me all that much. If you enjoy the thought of beauty subscriptions but don’t want to be overloaded with samples every single month, I do recommend this service as it does provide a good variety of products and brands.

til next time…

I’m always so afraid that I’m overly critical of beauty subscriptions so I’m glad to hear that I wasn’t the only one underwhelmed. I do really need to try the Paula’s Choice treatment. It sounds so good!
