Last night I got to see one of my most favourite human beings – Aubrey Drake Graham. The day for his Toronto show of the Jungle Tour was here and I knew that despite being super far away from him I had to bring my makeup A-game. I’ve been doing such minimal makeup or not wearing any while working on my thesis, I had to have some fun last night.
I came up with this smokey bronze look that made me feel super confident and pretty while screaming every single lyric of every song at the top of my lungs (yes, I’m that type of concert goer). Check out my Instagram for a video of one of the most anticipated moments of the night – Know Yourself.
For my base, I started with a trio of the Make Up For Ever Step One Skin Equalizers – Smoothing, Redness Correcting, and Radiant Pink – to address any skin concerns I had. Next, I used my Real Techniques Sculpting brush to apply my most favourite foundation – Lancome Teint Miracle in Ivory 4N. I brightened up the high points of my face and concealed under my eyes using MAC’s Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15.
For contouring, I used my Real Techniques Contour brush to apply the Sephora Bronzer in Los Cabos then Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. For blush, I used my previously hated Nars Super Orgasm blush (I’ve found a new love for it in the past week) and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light. For highlight, I used The Balm’s Cindy Lou-Manizer on the tops of my cheekbones and then Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incandescent Light on the other high points of the face.
For the brows, I used the Dior Brow Styler and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. For my eyes I actually only 4 shadows to achieve the smokey look. First I used Urban Decay Secret Service and a fluffy crease brush to buff this in the entire crease and up about halfway to my brow. Then taking a less fluffy crease brush I applied Secret Service throughout the crease again but just not going up as far. Finally, I used a pointed crease brush to really concentrate Secret Service in the crease and on the outer and inner corners of my eye. To get the bronze shimmer in the centre, I used The Face Shop’s Lovely Me:Ex eyeshadow in Sand Brown (#5) along with Lise Watier Couleur Folle Minerale in Folie Soleil. I used Urban Decay’s Virgin for the inner corner.
For liner, I used the new Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown so that it didn’t overwhelm the brown smokey eyeshadow. For the lower lashes, I just smudged more of Urban Decay’s Secret Service until I achieve the desired look. I also tightlined my eyes using the YSL Dessin du Regard Waterproof pencil in Black Ink. Finally, I added some Ardell Demi Lashes (#120) and Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof mascara.
Lastly, I wore Too Faced’s Melted Lipstick in Fig on my lips. It lasts so long so I didn’t have to worry about it wearing off while belting out all of Drake’s songs.
What do you think of this makeup look? I really hope you enjoyed it.Make sure to check out how I did my nails for the concert as well from my last post.
til next time…
