It’s in my nature to be curious and experiment with things from beauty products to my scientific research. It sometimes gets very overwhelming to attempt to post about every single product I’m trying out or am lucky enough to be sent. To make it easier to round up these new products in my arsenal I thought I would begin this Experimentation series. Each month I will do a round up post of a collection of products I’ve been testing out and some thoughts. If you want to hear more, let me know in the comments section and then I can do a post dedicated to that specific product.
Nexxus Color Assure Pre Wash Primer – This product has intrigued me for so long and not just because of the holographic bottle. You actually use this product right before washing your hair to help prevent colour loss. Red hair, like mine, is the hardest thing to maintain and anything that can help is good in my books. My colour is still pretty vibrant considering I dyed it about a month ago. I didn’t notice my hair looking greasy any earlier than usual while using this. The verdict is still out on this one but I’m hopeful!
Aveeno Fresh Essential Daily Nourishing Moisturizer* – This daytime moisturizer features vitamins A, C, and E to keep skin smooth, nourished and hydrated. It also has an SPF 30 which is great for any daytime moisturizer. I didn’t notice my skin breaking out from using this but it also didn’t moisturize my skin all that well. While I like the SPF, it did ball up on my skin and sometimes didn’t absorb very well. This line is heavily scented so if you are sensitive to scents proceed with caution. If you have normal to oily skin this could be a good drugstore moisturizer for you.
Aveeno Fresh Essentials Hydrating Night Cream* – Like the daytime moisturizer, I did find that this was overly scented. However, this definitely moisturized my skin a lot better and didn’t ball up on the skin. No breakouts happened after using this and my skin felt comfortable the mornings after using this.
Live Clean Coconut Milk Body Lotion* – Nothing screams SUMMER more than coconut scented products. This one has the perfect coconut scent in my opinion. The lotion has found a new home right beside my bed so I can apply before bed. It is a lighter weight lotion but still packs a hydration punch. It absorbs into the skin very well and doesn’t leave my skin greasy at all. One pump is enough for both of my arms and an extra pump makes it harder for full absorption to occur. Highly recommend this body lotion, especially for summer!
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Makeup Removing Wipes* – I typically use baby wipes as my makeup remover wipes. They are super inexpensive and do a decent job. The Bioderma ones, while more expensive, make up the price difference by performing very well. Nicely saturated and gentle on the skin. They remove basically everything with the exception of waterproof mascara. For that I put a bit of makeup remover on the wipe to break down my waterproof mascara. If you have sensitive skin or even if you don’t, make sure to try these out.
Aveeno Fresh Essentials Daily Exfoliating Scrub* – I’m not a daily exfoliator. My dry skin just can’t take it. However, I could use this product every day because it is not harsh at all. It actually almost leans too far to the gentle side as I can’t really tell if it’s exfoliating my skin. If the particles were just a bit bigger, I think that this exfoliator would work very well while still being gentle enough for daily use. Like the other two products, the scent is way too strong for this product.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water* – Bioderma knows how to make a micellar water. This is the 3rd micellar water I’ve tried, 2nd from the Bioderma brand, and it may be my favourite. Gentle on the skin, removes makeup very easily except for waterproof mascara. Does not irritate the skin and leaves it feeling soft and comfortable.
What have you been experimenting with?
til next time…
