Empties: July 2015

It’s been a couple of months since I did an Empties post. My container was overflowing and I knew it was time to clear it all out. I already have a few more empties in there again so I’m sure the next post won’t be too far away.

July 2015 Empties

Bath and Body Works Carried Away Shower Gel – My most favourite scent at Bath and Body Works – raspberries, white jasmine and vanilla. The shower gel itself is a bit drying so that’s a downside but I deal with it for the scent. Verdict: Will repurchase

Seche Vite Top Coat – Holy Grail. That’s all. Verdict: Already repurchased

Revlon Treat and Boost Base Coat – This is my secret to keeping my nails long (well and always wearing rubber gloves when doing the dishes). My nails don’t peel anymore and are nice and thick. Verdict: Already repurchased

Revlon Cuticle Remover* – This was my go-to cuticle remover for years. Works pretty well but not as well as my current one from The Face Shop. Very conditioning for the cuticles. Verdict: Already purchased

Downy Wrinkle Releaser – I absolutely hate ironing and steaming my clothes. This is a miracle worker and a life saver. Just spray onto clothes then tug and smooth clothes to get rid of wrinkles. Smells awesome as well so it’s like an iron that sprays out Febreeze. Verdict: Already repurchased

July 2015 Empties

Biotera Invisible Dry Shampoo – My most favourite dry shampoo. No white residue. Doesn’t leave my hair too gritty after using but gets the job done. Verdict: Will repurchase

Garnier Fructis Volume Extend Dry Shampoo – This is in between the Biotera and Klorane dry shampoos. Gives a bit of a white residue but it’s manageable. Verdict: Will not purchase

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk and Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – Boy does this give a lot of white cast. It does work well but it’s really hard to get rid of the white residue. Best to use at night before bed if you have dark hair. Verdict: Won’t purchase

Cake Satin Sugar Dry Shampoo and Body Powder – A great dry shampoo for brunettes plus this stuff smells like a dream. An extra bonus is that it lasts for a pretty long time. Verdict: May purchase if I go back to brown hair

July 2015 Empties

Nivea Express Eye Makeup Remover – A decent eye makeup remover but nowhere as good as the Marcelle one I’ve been using. Once I shook the two layers together, they separated really quickly which isn’t ideal. Verdict: Will not repurchase

Clean and Clear Invisible Blemish Treatment – My go-to spot treatment for acne and has been for more than 10 years. My skin responds really well to salicylic acid and this product is the perfect strength. Verdict: Already repurchased

Tarte Maracuja Oil – I love facial oils, especially in the winter. This one is very light and absorbs nicely into the skin. Doesn’t quite beat my favourite Fresh Seaberry oil but definitely does the job. Verdict: Will not repurchase

NeoStrata Glycolic Renewal Smoothing Cream* – I have raved about this before and I’m going to keep raving about it! I can see a difference the morning after using it. Controls any breakouts coming up, rids my skin of dry bits and makes my skin look smoother. Verdict: Already purchased

Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum – Oh if I had all the money in the world I would bathe in this stuff. Super hydrating while also being very light. Lightly scented but very pleasant. Verdict: May purchase (if I’m rich)

Graydon Clinical Luxury The Putty* – Super hydrating lotion that helps calm the skin. Absorbs nicely into the skin and never makes my skin feel or look greasy. Verdict: May purchase

Graydon Clinical Luxury The Green Cream* – Like The Putty, this is very moisturizing but lighter in texture. Smells absolutely amazing and keeps my skin comfortable and hydrated all day long. Absorbs super quickly into the skin. Verdict: May purchase

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate – Oh my word! This stuff works. Like really well. Tingles while on the skin but isn’t uncomfortable. My skin felt so smooth after removing it without feeling dry. Verdict: May purchase (when I’m rich)

July 2015 Empties

NeoStrata AquaYouth Filling Anti-Wrinkle Cream* – A great daytime cream that instantly adds hydration to the skin. I think of this as a lighter version of my beloved Clinique Moisture Surge. Verdict: Will purchase

Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Replenishing Night Cream – This completely dried out on me. Beforehand, it was a bit too thick for my skin and I didn’t notice any big differences after use. Verdict: Will not repurchase

Geum Sul 24K Gold Collagen Caviar Cotton Sheet Mask – I’m not a huge fan of sheet masks as they never fit my face properly. This one really didn’t fit but the serum of the mask was fantastic. Very hydrating and my skin didn’t get irritated or breakout because of it. Verdict: May purchase

July 2015 Empties

Live Clean Coconut Milk Shampoo* – A very nice smelling, light shampoo that lathers well. Don’t see any extra hydration with it but I typically don’t with shampoos. Verdict: May repurchase

Pantene Expert Age Defy Conditioner – This promises to reduce the amount of hair falling out and it actually does work. I had used this shampoo and conditioner years ago and noticed a difference and I noticed it again following the conditioner now. No idea how it works but it does! Super hydrating as well. Verdict: Will repurchase

Clear Scalp and Hair Intense Hydration Treatment Mask* – This is a decent mask. It works well but doesn’t work wonders. Verdict: Will not purchase

Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray – My go-to beach spray. It helps add a bit of wave into my hair without making it crunchy or feel gritty. Verdict: Will repurchase after trying some other sprays, even a DIY one

July 2015 Empties

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray – A permanent fixture in my foundation routine now. This helps my foundation last longer while giving my skin a healthy glow. It also helps to get rid of the powdery look following my setting powder. Verdict: Already repurchased

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in Natural Ivory – My favourite drugstore foundation for my dry skin. Wonderful finish and hydrates the skin. I always stock up when I’m in the States! Verdict: Will repurchase

Buxom Show Some Skin Foundation – I really liked the idea of this sample pack as there are 4 shades in it. I can pull of the first 3 shades because it is super sheer. Blended really well into the skin. Really happy I was able to get a couple more sample packs of it too. Verdict: May purchase (a little expensive for a tinted moisturizer)

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel – A must have for my brows. Keeps everything in place without making my brow hairs crunchy. Verdict: Already repurchased

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner – I really thought that this was my holy grail eye liner for awhile. It does stay all day and is super black. But the Kat Von D one stole my heart with it’s brush tip. Verdict: Will not repurchase

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – Like I said, this is my holy grail liner. Super black, glides on with ease, stays all day. Verdict: Already repurchased (in both black and brown)

Maybelline Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer – The life of a student comes with dark undereye circles. I’m always trying different concealers and this one was decent. It did brighten up the eyes but was pretty sheer for coverage. Definitely had to layer this over top of other products. Verdict: Will not repurchase

Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you thought about them!

til next time….

I haven’t bought Carried Away for a little while but I think I’ve gotten it as a gift in the past year or so. It should still be there.
