Halloween is one of my favourite times of year. You get to be super creative and just have fun.
To get into the spirit of Halloween, I wanted to do a makeup look that you could pull together easily and only have to buy minimal costume items. I decided on this Dark Fairy Halloween Makeup Look. All you need in terms of a costume is black clothing, a coloured wig, and fairy wings (I didn’t end up buying those for this post). You also don’t need to stick with the blue theme…any colour will work!
Starting with the eyes, I laid down a base of Make Up Forever’s Aqua Cream in #25 on the inner part of my lid, above the crease, and inner corner and Annabelle’s Smudge Paint in Skyline in the outer part of my lid. Then I took Wet n Wild’s eyeshadow palette in I’m His Breezy* and applied the blue shadows following the base with darker colour on the outer part of the lid and getting lighter as your work inwards. I also applied some of the browbone and base shades on my browbone.
Next, to darken up the look, I took a black kohl liner (one that smudges relatively easily) and line your upper lash line then continue that line to create a v shape in your outer corner continuing into your crease. Take a fluffy brush and buff that out above the crease and to minimize the harsh line but not too much that there is no longer definition. Repeat the second step in the crease a few more times until you achieve the desired opacity. To deepen up the outer corner even more, I took Avon Supershock gel liner in Blackened Metal on a flat shadow brush and applied it over top of the liner. To set that liner, I applied the black shade from the Wet n Wild eyeshadow palette in Spoiled Brat*.
For the detail, I took my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and created the beginnings of a winged eyeliner but then created projections out of that line until I achieved the look you see. I also extended the inner corner of my eye with the liner as well.
For the lower lashline, I took the deep navy shadow from the Wet n Wild I’m His Breezy palette and buffed that in and then applied the black kohl liner along the lashline and in the upper and lower waterlines. For a little bit of fairy dust, I applied the Wet n Wild glitter eyeshadow in Spiked* near the inner corner of my eye (if you are wearing this for a long time, skip this step or use proper glitter that can be worn around the eyes – this one is meant for face and body). For my lashes, I went all out with the Make Up For Ever lashes in C-708* (they launch today!). Lastly, I deepened my eyebrows using the Avon Ultra Luxury eye liner in Midnight Blue.
For the rest of my makeup, I used the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation, Wet n Wild blush in Berry Shimmer*, and ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Trap for the lips.
Well, that’s it! I am so thrilled with how this Dark Fairy Halloween Makeup Look turned out. So much so that I wish I had more time to do more Halloween makeup looks. Also, that I wish I picked a costume with some crazy makeup….But you’ll see what I decided on over the weekend when I post about it. Dying to know? Check my Twitter….I posted a picture from my work party on there.
What are you being for Halloween?
til next time…
