I have previously raved about the products on Born Pretty so when I got the chance to try out more I couldn’t say no!
Born Pretty is an Asian beauty site that focuses mainly on nail art supplies but has a great selection of beauty products as well as cute tech accessories. The prices are fantastic so you can try out a lot of different products without hurting your wallet too much. Well except that your cart quickly fills up because of intriguing products.
The Mixiu Modified Blush in Shade 02 ($3.99 USD) is play on the Charlotte Tilbury blush with the darker colour in the centre. This blush is beautifully pigmented but easily blends out while you are applying it. You can either use each colour on its own, swirl them together or focus the lighter colour near the back of your cheeks then add a pop of the darker colour on the apples. A very versatile blush!
Another product that impressed me was the false lashes that I tried out. The Crisscross False Eyelash 5 pack ($3.07 USD) feature a clear band and lashes that are crisscrossed at the base. They are shorter near the inner corner but overall are medium in length. These lashes give my eyes such a flirty, fluttery look without being overpowering at all. I can’t wait to pair them with a smokey eye for a night out! Now with such an affordable price the quality control isn’t great so some of the lashes in the pack are slightly different than the others. Once they are on the eyes though you shouldn’t be able to tell too much of a difference.
To give your eye look a trendy twist, a coloured mascara is fantastic. The Clever Cat Skinny Microcara Waterproof Mascara in Blue ($2.77 USD) features a super tiny brush (it’s 2.5 mm) that gets every single lash. The blue colour definitely shows up on the bottom lashes and would show up nicely at the tips of the upper lashes. It didn’t clump and didn’t flake off either. I would definitely try this mascara in black as a bottom lash mascara.
Last but not least is the Flat Contour Brush ($3.99 USD) which intrigued me so much (both to see the quality of brushes on the site and how this type of brush would work). The brush is super soft and PACKED with bristles. It’s not overly stiff and really packs on the product but can blend it out very nicely. I found it was best to do a back and forth motion first to get the product into the hollow of your cheeks then follow that up with brushing the product upwards a bit onto the cheeks. I haven’t washed it yet so I’m not sure about shedding but it hasn’t yet while just using regularly. Definitely check out other brushes on the site to find cheap alternatives to popular, high end brushes.
I did my makeup with all of the products in this post and show it below. You can see that the lashes add a bit but not too much, the blue mascara even stands out a bit from a far away distance (and washed out a bit in lighting), the bronzer I used to contour is noticeable but not too overpowering, and the blush gives a wonderful pop of colour. PS. the lip colour is the Sephora Lip Cream in #14.
