Last week, the world lost a creative genius. David Bowie pushed the boundaries of music and fashion by transforming into one of his many personas. You almost can’t imagine having such artists as Madonna or Lady Gaga without the influence of Bowie. His music has stood the test of time and spoken to generation after generation.
To pay homage to Ziggy Stardust, this easy to create nail design is inspired by the cover of Aladdin Sane, Bowie’s sixth album.
To begin this nail design, paint all of your nails except for one with a light-medium blue polish. Once that has dried, top it off with a blue glitter polish to represent outer space, which Bowie sang about a lot in his songs.
For the lightning bolt design, start off with two coats of a pale nude polish. Allow this to dry and then take an orange-red for the lightning bolt. Using a thin nail art brush, create a line in the shape of a lightning bolt to divide the nail in half and then fill in the rest of that half. Clean off the brush using some nail polish remover and use the blue from the other nails once again. Follow the red lightning bolt shape with the blue polish, trying to keep that line as consistent in thickness as possible. If you feel comfortable with it and have a very thin nail art brush, you can add a very thin black line between the blue and red.
Allow the lightning bolt design and the rest of the nails to dry for 10 minutes and then apply a top coat so your out of this world design lasts all week.

Last week I was so fortunate to attend a David Bowie tribute concert with Jen from Vibrant, Vivacious, Veracious Beauty Blog. It was an emotional night of dancing, singing and tears and the perfect way to say goodbye to one of my favourite artists of all time.
What’s your favourite David Bowie song? I would have to say Starman is mine but I love so many!
til next time…
