If you didn’t read my 2016 Resolutions post, I resolved to spend less money on beauty products. One of the ways I planned on doing this was to start using my makeup collection more. My challenge is to start a new series of posts on the blog where I will create makeup looks with my forgotten about products.
Today I went to my Morphe magnetic palette to play with some single eyeshadows that don’t get any love on the regular.
For the face I used my go-to foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me Hydrate and Smooth foundation in 120 Ivory, and my concealers of the moment, Make Up For Ever Full Cover and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. I opted to not use any bronzer for this look but put a flush of colour on my cheeks with the Rimmel Blush in 102 Santa Rose. To top off the blush, I added the Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powder in 010 Brighten.
Moving onto the eyes, I started with Makeup Geek Beaches & Cream throughout the crease to help with blending and transition. Then I placed Inglot #340 on the outer V and halfway through the crease. I made sure to blend the teal shade really well into the nude shade so that there were no harsh lines. On the rest of my lid, I placed Morphe Bronzed Ivy, ensuring that it was blended into the Inglot shadow. I alternated between the two shades to create a nice transition on the lid. I deepened the teal outer part with a touch of Yaby es168 Earth and highlighted the inner corner with Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma. Lastly, I added a touch of bronze to the lower lashline with Yaby es562 Royal Brown.
To finish off the eye look, I used the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (after a failed attempt with a gel eyeliner then the Dior felt tip liner) to create a wing and then lots of mascara.
For the lips, I took the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate lipstick in #14 but as soon as I applied it I could tell it was too taupe/cool tone for the look. To warm up the lips and add a glossy look, I added the NARS gloss in Orgasm. The end result was a gorgeous peach-nude shade which I will definitely be wearing again.
Overall, I am very happy with all the products used in this post. I had forgotten about the Inglot and Yaby shadows and was pleasantly surprised with their performance. Definitely want to try the Inglot shade in a very dark smokey eye as well as over a white base. Using the Revlon highlight brings me back to a time when that was the only highlighter I owned and it really is a perfect shade for my skintone. Thankfully I learned that my Dior liner is kaput and that I need to practice my gel liner application more.
My first Shop My Stash look is a definite success. I hope you enjoyed the look as well! Please suggest any type of looks you’d enjoy seeing. I would love the inspiration.
til next time…
