I don’t know about you but I’m always on the hunt for great, affordable skincare. A little while back I saw a lot of ads for a brand named Lipidol, which focuses on oils, and was very intrigued. Lipidol is from the company Union Swiss, the creators of Bio-Oil and was launched in August of 2014. The line features 6 different oils including a cleansing face oil, cleansing body oil, sunscreen, aftershave, after shower, and overnight face oil.
I decided to pick up the Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil, which retails for $8.97 CDN (125mL). I’ve been trying it out for the past few weeks and wanted to share my thoughts on this new product to the market.
The Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil contains a lot of ingredients which I have listed below. Key ones include argan and sesame seed oil, nialouli essential oil, aloe and salicylic acid.
Ingredients: Paraffinum Liquidum, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Oleth-5, Aqua, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil, Beta-Sitosterol, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Salicylic Acid, Bisabolol, BHT, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil, Melaleuca Viridiflora Leaf Oil, Azulene, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Melia Azadirachta Seed Extract, Amino Esters-1, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Ocimum Basilicum Flower/Leaf Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Mica.
If you notice, there isn’t any fragrance listed so the scent of the product is due to the essential oils and extracts listed. It definitely has an essential oil scent which doesn’t bother me but some may find it is a little overpowering.
You use this product like any cleansing oil—smear it over dry skin to breakdown makeup and dirt then add water to create a foaming cleanser. Once you rinse your skin, it shouldn’t feel tight and dry but rather comfortable and clean. For the most part it does a great job at breaking down my makeup, with the exception of waterproof mascara and eyeliner. I always have to follow up with my Marcelle eye makeup remover to get rid of any traces of those.
Now the first time I used this my skin did feel somewhat dry after using. Since then though I haven’t experienced that result. My skin hasn’t reacted poorly to it which is great because it has been so temperamental lately.
I follow up this cleanser with my holy grail toner, the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2, to remove any leftover traces of makeup, dirt, or the cleanser.
In comparison to other cleansing oils I have used, this is much lighter in texture and you can feel that on your skin. It almost doesn’t feel like you have used oil all over your skin but rather just a normal cleanser.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with the performance of this cleansing oil, especially considering the price. I really want to try some of the other products in the line, especially the overnight facial oil and after shower oil.
Have you had a chance to try out the Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil yet? If not, it’s available at Walmart!
til next time…
