If you’ve been following the blog this week, you will think that I’m a huge Valentine’s Day fan. Well, surprise, I’m not. But I knew that a lot of people are and would want some inspiration for their makeup and nails. What am I a fan of? Pretty makeup of course. So really you can wear this look anytime. It’s a soft, subtle look that focuses on the eyes and glowing skin.
Starting with the eyes, I used the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 palette predominately. I usually start with the crease for most of my looks and this one was no different. I used All Heart first and concentrated it in the the crease then blended upwards. I added a bit of Violet throughout the crease as well to add a little depth. Now as I was applying these shades to the crease, a bit moved down onto the lid but I wanted to make sure that this look was light and bright. I added a mixture of Sheer Joy and Love all over the lid then went back with a more precise crease brush to add the crease colours again. This back and forth continued until I was happy with the look and it was blended. To add a bit of shimmer to the eyes, I added a bit of Becca Pearl highlighter on the lid and in the inner corners.
Now just leaving the look at this point would be great for a daytime look but I wanted to add a bit of smokiness. I smudged a combo of Iconic and Noir along the upper lashline and very lightly to the outer V. With the remaining shadow on my smudger brush, I ran that along the lower lashline. To amp up the smokiness, I added a pair of lashes from Born Pretty* (Crisscross False Eyelash 5 Pack) and my favourite combination of mascara (Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Volum’ and Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama).
For my cheeks, I used the Essence Silky Touch Blush in Babydoll*. I have to rave about this blush for a second. I had never tried it before but was super impressed with the pigmentation, blendability and finish on the skin.
To add extra glow to the skin (because the Maybelline Fit Me Hydrate and Smooth already gives my skin a glowing look), I dusted the Chanel Coups de Minuit Joues Contraste Lumiere on my cheekbones as well as the apples of my cheeks, down my nose and on my cupid’s bow.
Finally for lips, I used one of my favourite light pink lipsticks, Revlon Super Lustrous in Primrose, along with the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Super Natural. This combination is super pretty and perfect for this light makeup look.
What kind of makeup do you think you’ll wear on Valentine’s Day?
til next time…
