The biggest night of award season finally arrived and it did not disappoint. From complete dominance of Mad Max to an amazing performance by Toronto’s own The Weeknd, the night highlighted Hollywood’s biggest stars. The fashions on the red carpet did not disappoint either. A great mix of colours and textures were seen, making you wonder what would be worn next. One of the highlights of the carpet was worn by Oscar winner Alicia Vikander who wore Louis Vuitton.
This gown served as great inspiration for nail art with the silver sequin embellishments adorning the buttery yellow fabric. This design is also relatively easy to accomplish. All you need is a nail art brush and shades of silver polish along with the yellow polish as the base.
To start off, apply two coats of the yellow polish and allow to dry. Recreating the silver sequin embellishments is easy and you need 2/3 silver polishes. Start with the lightest colour as this is the main colour of the sequins and take it on a nail art brush and create small, elongated dots. Some of the sequins are arranged in two rows, some curved single lines and others have curved details at the end.
Once you have created the majority of the sequin pattern with the lightest silver, take the darker shade (or middle shade if using three) and add more elongated dots over the light silver to make it look like a shadow. You can add the darkest shade as well to deepen the look of the shadows. Continue this until you are happy with the overall design.
Allow your design to dry for 10 minutes then apply a top coat so your design lasts.
Polishes Used: CND Vinylux Honey Darlin’, OPI Center of the You-niverse, OPI No More Mr. Night Sky, and OPI I Drive a Supernova.
