Mani Monday – Minimalist Dots

Monochromatic simple nail art design

Minimalist, monochromatic fashions have been growing in popularity over the years. If you don’t think you can convert your entire closet to a sea of black, greys and white, start the monochromatic, minimalist look on your nails. This nail art design is extremely easy and can be modified to suit your personal style, whatever it may be.

You will just need 2 polishes and some form of a dotting tool (the end of a paintbrush, a nail dotting tool or a toothpick).

To begin, start with your base colour and apply two coats then allow to dry for 5-10 minutes. Once it is dry, take a piece of aluminium foil and place some of your second polish colour on it. Take your dotting tool and dab it into the polish. Using the aluminium foil is the best way to get the most perfect dots as the polish is evenly dispersed around the dotting tool. Create two dots at the base of the nail relatively close to one another. Let dry for 10 minutes and then apply a top coat.

A good alternative to the dots is using nail art studs instead. These studs can be applied once the base colour is somewhat dry and then top coat is applied over top of them. The studs add a little extra edge and interest to the look.
