While glosses are slowly making a comeback, matte lips have been all the hype over the past year or so. This month the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network has the theme of Mattes and I thought I would join in on the theme and talk about my favourite matte lip products.
In general, I enjoy the formula of each of these lip products and highlighted one shade from each line so can see their matte finish. Make sure to leave in the comments what your favourite matte lip products are so I can continue to explore this type of lipsticks.
Maybelline Creamy Mattes (Blushing Pout shown) — These are the best matte lip products I’ve tried from the drugstore. Extremely creamy and comfortable on the lips but still provide a nice matte finish. The pigmentation of all the shades I own is fantastic! Can’t get enough of these and always hope that they release more shades sooner than later.
ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips (Clueless shown) — Hands down my favourite liquid lipstick. And at the low price of $6 USD for one of these, you really can’t go wrong. Wonderful range of shades and great pigmentation. Very lightweight on the lips, unless you use a thicker layer (I don’t recommend that). Can be somewhat drying so always apply a lip balm before hand. The longevity of these are crazy. I’ve even worn a bold red for an entire baseball game (eating and drinking included) and it lasted the entire time.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain (#03/Strawberry Kissed shown) — If you want a matte lip product that doesn’t feel like it has sucked the life out of your lips, the Sephora Cream Lip Stains are perfect for you. In between a liquid lipstick and a mousse-like texture, these have good longevity, amazing pigmentation, and are more comfortable than a true liquid lipstick. These are not transfer proof but still stain the lips. You will see it wearing off on your coffee mug but surprisingly doesn’t really budge from your lips.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (Copenhagen shown) — Like the Sephora one, this has a more mousse-like feel rather than a liquid lipstick consistency. The shades in this line are fantastic (I believe I own 6-8 of them) and the pigmentation does not disappoint whatsoever. Because of their consistency, these are not ultra long-wearing products but do stick around for hours and wear off evenly. Layering the product later on in the day isn’t a pain either because of the mousse-like texture of the product.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my favourite matte lipsticks. I believe the true test is how many of the same product do you have? I have about 8 of the Maybellines, 9 ColourPops, 3 Sephoras and about 6 NYXs. I may have a problem!
til next time…
