When I heard of the 20% off sale on ColourPop, I knew that I had to place an order. The last order I made was when the Ultra Matte lips released and I wanted to get more of them plus some other things. Also, with the launch of the Ultra Satin lips, I needed to see how those compared to my beloved Mattes.
My order finally arrived a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been trying everything out since. I have swatches of everything below plus my thoughts thus far.
In a previous haul, I picked up one of the blushes (in the shade Prenup) and I still continue to reach for it on a continual basis. So I decided to pick up a brighter hued blush and decided on Fruit Stand (left swatch below). This bright red blush looks intimidating but with the right technique you can achieve a gorgeous flush of colour. I find that if I apply with a blush brush, not too much product is picked up because of its cream-powder hybrid formula. These blushes last a lot longer than a cream blush would for me and just a bit less than a typical powder blush.
The highlighters launched within this past year and I was very intrigued by them considering my success with the blush. Swatched, these are absolutely stunning. When you apply them with a highlighter brush, you achieve a very subtle glow. But when you pat them on with your fingers, boy do you ever get some glow! I decided on two, Lunch Money (middle swatch below) which is more golden in tone and Smoke N Whistles (right swatch below) which is more of a pink/champagne tone. Both are beautiful and a great addition to my highlighter collection.
I have a few of the eyeshadows already and while I don’t use them very often, I love the metallic shades. I picked up two more to add to my collection but have yet to incorporate them into a look. I can imagine both of them being amazing in a smokey nighttime look. Nillionaire is a gorgeous bronze shadow with gold and multicoloured glitter within it. Stereo is a blackened burgundy with a pink/violet-copper duochrome.
With my obvious love for the Ultra Mattes, I knew I wanted to pick up a few more. I decided on Succulent which is a bright, warm toned red. I absolutely love this shade! It is like the warm-toned sister to Creeper which is one of my all-time favourite red lipsticks. Next up, I picked out two berry toned lips because I really needed some more options in my collection. Bad Habit is a mid toned berry that was very easy to apply, no patchiness at all. More Better is a darker berry and I did experience a bit of difficulty in applying it. I find that with a lot of the dark shades of Ultra Mattes though. This formula is drying so I always apply a lip balm underneath first. I never really need to apply lip liner with these either because they don’t budge once they set.
As I had said, I wanted to try out the Ultra Satin lips so that I could see how they compared to the Ultra Mattes. Overall, they are more comfortable on the lips, in terms of not drying them out, but that also means that they move around a lot. With these I need to wear a lip liner to prevent bleeding or it moving around a lot. I have found that they slightly stain the lips which is nice because if you don’t have a chance to touch them up, you’ll still have a bit of colour on the lips.
I decided on 3 shades from the Ultra Satin lips – Frick n Frack, which is this really cool brown/terracotta shade. London Fog which appears more pink in the tube but once applied it is a great berry leaning red shade. Panda is a purple shade which has a touch of berry in it. I found that Panda was the hardest to apply and that the product clinged to my dry spots the most out of any of the lip products I bought.
I have to say that I enjoy the Ultra Mattes more than the Ultra Satins, only because of the longevity of wear. I will still use my Ultra Satins but not for days when I don’t want to touch up my lips at all.
So there you have it, my ColourPop haul! What products interest you from ColourPop? Have you tried any of these products before?
til next time…
