Mani Monday: Day Glow Stripes

Summer is in full force so you want your mani to reflect the hot temperatures. This simple mani combines white and neon polishes for an eye-catching look.

There are two ways you can achieve this look and any neon shade can be used.

To begin, paint 2 coats of white polish on all nails. If you want the neon shade to be the base colour, only apply 1 coat of white polish. This makes the neon shade pop even more and helps with streaking.

Once the base colour is applied, you have two choices for this design—either freehand the vertical lines or use striping tape (or clear tape) to achieve the look. If you are freehanding, allow the base colour to dry for a few minutes before creating the line with a thin tipped nail art brush.

If you don’t trust your unsteady hands, you can use tape to achieve this look. Once your base colour is applied, apply a coat of a fast drying top coat (Seche Vite or inm’s Out the Door are great options). By applying the top coat, you can apply tape over your already painted nails about 5-10 minutes after application. Once the top coat is dry, take clear tape or nail striping tape to tape off a very narrow line off centre on the nail. Ensure the tape is applied down the entire length of the nail so no polish gets underneath. Apply your accent colour in the middle of the taped off section then immediately remove the tape. Work nail by nail for this part to ensure you get crisp, clean lines.

Allow the design to dry for 5-10 minutes then apply top coat.
