I can admit it. I don’t like cream eyeshadows all that much. It takes a certain kind of formula for me to want to reach for them. The Maybelline Color Tattoos are one of those formulas and I have to say the Avon Extra Lasting Eyeshadow Ink ($14 CDN) might be as well.
Not only was the formula something that I enjoyed, but the shades were the real standout. Just look at that teal and red shade!
Now the formula is different than that of the Maybelline Color Tattoos. It has a bit of a mousse like feel which makes it very easy to apply and blend out. You definitely have to watch out with applying too much product as it can bunch up a little bit then become patchy.
Of the 3 shades I’ve tried out, I have to say that Always Merlot is my favourite. It’s a beautiful deep red shade with almost a copper shimmer incorporated throughout. I love pairing this cream shadow with MUFE shadow in Morello Cherry. I even wore that pairing in my Red Hair: Tips and Tricks video.
Infinite Teal was most likely my least favourite in terms of formulation (not the shade) as it had more of tendency to go patchy when compared to the other two (barely though). This is definitely a shade out of the norm for me so I definitely need to force myself to wear it more often.
Lastly, Totally Taupe is a really pretty cool toned taupe with almost a champagne sheen to it. This will be a staple for me in the fall on those days you don’t want to do a lot with your makeup.
Now I definitely need to wear a primer with these and set it with a powder shadow of some sort. This will minimize any creasing during the day and the shade will also remain vibrant all day as well.
What’s your favourite cream shadow formula?
til next time…
