The holidays are in full force and you may be finishing up your Christmas shopping (or like me, just starting it). There are so many products out there and it can kind of be overwhelming at times. I’ve rounded up some of the cool and pretty beauty products that have come across my (metaphorical) desk in the recent weeks to give you ideas for your Christmas shopping.
The Le Mini Macaron Gel Polish System is perfect for the friend that constantly goes to the salon for a gel mani and is on the go all the time. This gel nail system comes with a small LED lamp that cures the matching nail polish that comes with the system. It is powered by a USB cord and isn’t too bulky for travel. The system also comes with remover pads, a file, and a cuticle stick.
The system retails for $35 USD/$46.11 CDN on their site and comes in 9 different colours. The site also has 37 shades of polish and a top coat which retail for $15 USD/$19.76 CDN. There are also polish sets so you can get a few shades at a lower price and remover kits for polish removal.
You can find this both online on the Le Mini Macaron website, as well as at Hudson’s Bay.
Next up, the gorgeous Quo Soft Focus Highlighting palette. You can find this exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart and it retails for $30. It comes with 3 great highlighting shades along with 2 travel sized brushes. One highlight shade is a subtle nude, one is a champagne pearl and the last is a much warmer toned highlight. If you are fair you can use the warmed toned highlight to top off bronzer or even slightly above your crease in an eye look. The middle shade is a quintessential highlighter shade and great on the high points of your face (cheekbones, brow bones and along your nose). The nude highlighter would be great to buff out your blush to give a subtle glow or would give the best lit from within look for someone with a medium skin tone.
The Quo Holiday 2016 Collection is available at Shoppers Drug Mart.
For the creative type, look no further than the MoYou London Nail Art Stamping set is perfect. You can find these online as well as at Trade Secrets locations. There is a variety of sets (like the one seen here) that include a nail stamping plate, stamper, scraper and nail polish that retail for $24.75 USD/$32.50 CDN. Some of my favourites are the larger plates that don’t have set rectangles but rather one big design that you can use any part of (like the Doodles starter kit and and the Fashionista starter kit).
You can also pick up individual plates and polishes the range from $8.90-9.90 USD/$11.70-13 CDN.
The last two gift ideas are ones that you can actually separate and give out as smaller gifts to more people.
First up is the Butter London Cheerfull 6 Piece Petite Lacquer Collection (retails for $25 US/$39 CDN). This gift set comes with 6 polishes but are packaged up in 2 sets of 3 polishes. These mini nail polishes are fantastic because it really is rare that someone can use up a whole polish before it needs to be tossed. The colours are perfect for the holidays and all 6 were easy to apply and had great pigmentation.
I have swatched all 6 shades and grouped them together as they appear in the gift set. I’d have to say that Figgy Pudding (deep plum with cranberry shimmer) and Swinging London (pale pink with iridescent shimmer) were my favourites of the bunch.
You can pick up this set on the Butter London site and for other great Butter London gifts (and some other great brands), check out BeautyKind. This site has such a great array of gifts and 5% of every purchase you make is donated to a charity of your choice. It’s a nice way to give back and complete your Christmas shopping.
Lastly, this Quo Hidden Treasures Cosmetic Crackers (retails for $18) comes with 3 Christmas crackers that each contain an eyeshadow duo and a small lip gloss. This gift is great as a stuffing stocker for 3 of your favourite beauty lovers or a great base to a makeup collection for someone just getting into beauty. The pigmentation of all the eyeshadows is great and a good combination of mattes and shimmers.
The lip glosses aren’t too sticky and two of them have nice pigmentation. The light pink one is more clear than anything but would be great for a minimal makeup look or to add a bit of shine without changing the colour of a lipstick.
I have swatched all 3 sets below so you can see the pigmentation I’m talking about! Remember that you can find the whole Quo Holiday 2016 collection at Shoppers Drug Mart.
I hope this beauty gift guide gave you a few ideas for the rest of your Christmas shopping. Maybe you like one so much that you’ll even gift it to yourself (hehe).
