Hooray! Award season is back! And you know that means…tons of Mani Monday inspiration. There were some gorgeous gowns on the red carpet this year at the Golden Globes but a particular one stood out from the crowd.
Thandie Newton looked absolutely flawless in a minimalistic but showstopping off-the-shoulder dress by Monse. It featured a stunning bright copper/orange sequin detail at the bottom of the dress.
This dress is a perfect source of inspiration for a nail art design because of it’s minimalistic design and punch of colour and shine.
To begin with this design, paint all of your nails white and allow to dry.
Next, using a small nail art brush, create the cascading orange/copper detail with a shimmering orange polish. You’ll want to create the cascade upwards across all of your nails, starting low on your index finger and going higher as you reach your pinky. You can create a few peaks to really mimic the dress design.
Now to add the glitter, either use a copper glitter polish (with a touch of gold mixed in to give dimension) or use glitter you can find at a craft store or nail art supply store. Add the glitter on top of the orange cascade you created in the last step. Try and layer the glitter a bit so that it becomes a bit more opaque.
Allow this to dry for 10 minutes and then apply a topcoat to seal everything in and create a smoother finish where the glitter is on the nails.
Polishes Used: Sinful Colors Snow Me White, OPI Orange You Going to the Game?, Ciaté All Aglow, and Sally Hansen Copper Penny
