Okay it is officially spring and there are some great products and collections being released to celebrate the changing of the seasons. The limited edition Quo Spring 2017 Collection is one of those and it definitely wins for best packaging. Hands down!
All of the pieces (minus the lip products) are cased in gorgeous geode packaging that should really be on display at all times. I can honestly say that I gasped a little when I first saw the packaging. It’s that good.
I have swatched all of the products and played around with them to give quick little reviews. The Quo Spring 2017 collection can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Quo Eyeshadow Palette in Rock It! ($18 CDN) – The first of the two eyeshadow palettes features 4 matte shades—a cream, light peach/pink, muted burgundy brown, and a steel-blue/grey. From swatches alone, you can see that the darker two shades perform much better than their lighter counterparts. Once I played around with this quad, I enjoyed using the peach/pink shade above my crease to allow for easier blending of darker shades. The two darker shades, though great in swatches, were pretty sheer once I applied them. I definitely had to pack on a fair amount of product to achieve the look I wanted. Unfortunately, like in the swatch, the cream shade didn’t have a ton of pigment once I applied it to the eye.
Quo Eyeshadow Palette in No Pressure ($18 CDN) – Unlike Rock It!, the No Pressure palette is made up of 4 shimmery eyeshadows—yellow hued white, light pink, buttery yellow, and taupe. With the first look of this palette, I knew it just wasn’t shades that I would typically reach for, especially the yellow shade. Pigmentation of the 3 lighter shades didn’t seem to be that great when I swatched them but the taupe shade was really nice. I loved the silver like shimmer throughout the taupe to bring out some of its cool toned nature.
But once I went to apply these shades, I fell in love with the yellow (almost green) leaning white. It is one of my go-to shades for an inner corner highlight. The pink and yellow shades didn’t do much for me once they were applied. The taupe ended up being a bit more sheer than the swatch but it’s still nice for a very light makeup day.
Quo Brow Palette $12 – This eyebrow palette is great for travel as it has everything you need in one place. An eyebrow powder split pan with two shades, a highlight shade, an eyebrow cream, and a dual ended brush. The eyebrow cream allows the eyebrow powder to stay on the brows all day and the highlight shade is a nice shimmery shade to accent the brow bone. Now I personally don’t use brow powders but if the two shades in the palette look like they would be good for you, I think this would be a good basic to pick up.
Quo Face Palette in Heat It Up ($20 CDN) – I really think that the face palettes are the highlight of this collection. They come in two sets of shades, one lighter and one darker. With my fair skin, Heat It Up is the perfect set of shades. There are two highlights, three blushes (in my opinion), and one bronzer in this palette. I say “in my opinion” for the blushes because I believe the bottom left shade is meant to be a bronzer. This shade though is a great blush topper or blush on its own.
The two highlight shades are really nice, one is more subtle and one gives such a pretty glow. The blushes blend out very nicely and give such a gorgeous pop of colour to the face. The bronzer is very warm toned so it could get out of hand pretty quickly. But if done right, it gives such a subtle warmth to the face.
Quo Face Palette in Down to Earth ($20 CDN) – The deeper of the two face palettes, Down to Earth, features two highlights, two blushes, and two bronzers. The highlighters are more yellow toned so they aren’t practical for someone with fairer skin. The two blushes are stunning though, especially the deeper peach/coral that has a subtle shimmer throughout. The two bronzers are lovely in terms of pigmentation. One of them leans more cool toned and one is very warm toned. I actually really want to use the warm toned one throughout my crease for a warm eye look.
Quo Matte Lip Crayons in Pretty in Pink and Almond Nude ($12 CDN) – Lastly, are the lip crayons that actually come in three shades (there’s also a warmer toned deep read, Simply Red). The two that I tried out are super creamy and have great pigmentation. Almond Nude is a really pretty nude shade that doesn’t make it look like I have concealer all over my lips. It leans a bit peach once applied to my lips. Pretty in Pink is a bold medium toned pink. I don’t really love to wear these kind of colours but it did apply very nicely (it can catch onto dry bits if you haven’t exfoliated lately). Both of them were comfortable to wear and have a wear time of about 2 hours before needing to reapply.
Make sure to check out your local Shoppers Drug Mart for this limited edition collection. I highly suggest a face palette if you want something from the collection.
