I always love hearing about indie brands, especially those based in Toronto. So when I got the chance to try Artistic Beauty Cosmetics, a makeup line started by Jessica Sooroojpal, the Founder and Director of Artistic Beauty, I jumped at it.
Artistic Beauty is a Toronto based company that provides makeup and hair services for weddings and events, lash application, and is also an academy where you can learn makeup, hair, and lash techniques. The Artistic Beauty Cosmetics lines features lip products but will be growing in the future. There are 4 lip shades and two lip kits featuring a liquid lipstick and a lip liner.
The liquid lipsticks retail for $15 CDN and the lip kits retail for $30. All of the products are made in Canada, which is so great! I’ve been trying out the lip kit in The Last Kiss for the last little bit. Keep reading to hear what I think of the products and for swatches as well.
I started off with the lip liner and it is in the traditional pencil format that you have to sharpen over time. The formula of the liner is on the drier side. So while it is a bit harder to apply, you don’t have to worry about it bleeding or moving around. The pigmentation is really nice but if you want to apply it all over the lips you will need a lip balm underneath. The colour is a perfect peachy nude with a touch of brown. Perfect for so many different skin tones.
The liquid lipstick is definitely not the super matte formula that everyone has come to associate with this format of lip colour. Instead, it leaves a gorgeous shine on the lips with a ton of pigmentation. Application was very easy with the doe foot applicator and the product didn’t move around the lips after some wear. Now because of the glossy finish, this lipstick won’t be as long lasting as a matte liquid lipstick. But it is definitely a lot more comfortable on the lips and when it wears down, the lip liner underneath ensures that colour remains but it’s more of a satin, muted look.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with the Artistic Beauty Cosmetics products and I absolutely love that it’s a company located in my area, Toronto.
til next time…
