When it comes to lipstick, I want a creamy feel on my lips and longlasting colour in shades ranging from nudes to bold hues. It’s even better if I can find these things in a drugstore brand. Well, I think Essence has done it again. I love some of the Longlasting Lipsticks and I definitely found some gems in the latest Essence Matt Matt Matt lipstick collection.
The name is a mouthful but this range features nude shades to bold, bright reds and pinks to deep, vampy shades. There are 8 shades available in the Essence Matt Matt Matt collection and I have 7 of them swatched for you today.
I can honestly say that I am super impressed by the formula of these lipsticks. They are extremely similar to my all time favourite, the Maybelline Creamy Mattes. Just a touch less creamy but super comfortable on the lips. I do find that a couple of shades have a hard time adhering to the inner part of my lip though. I just have to rub in the product a bit to make sure it stays in that area.
I also really enjoy the colour range of this lipstick line. There are a few neutral, lighter shades which are good for everyday or pair with a darker eye. My favourites are the bold, bright shades that I love to pair with a very simple eye look. Finally, there are two deeper shades, one sheer and one dark and vampy, that I like to wear with some smoked out liner and fluffy lashes.
Below I have swatches of the 7 shades I have. 01 Natural Kiss was my least favourite of the bunch as it accentuated the lines and drier patches of my lips. 02 Perfect Match is just that, a perfect nude shade. 04 Pink Up Your Life is a stunning fuchsia with tons and tons of pigmentation. 05 Red-y or Not is this great pink-red hybrid that I am in love with. 06 Kiss Me If You Can is a deeper, blue-toned red that is a super classic lipstick for your collection. 07 Purple Power isn’t one of my favourites but it has a really cool sheer finish. It does have a slight tendency to be patchy. 08 It’s a Statement is a deep, vampy burgundy-plum lipstick that was a little difficult to get precise but a lipstick brush would cure all of that.
What do you think of the Essence Matt Matt Matt lipsticks? Which shades are your favourite?
til next time…
